Check the order first. Then connect the text flow.
Thread text frames across pages and spreads without connecting every port by hand. A floating panel collects the frames and shows their order, and you can adjust the list before linking.
What it does
- Collects text frames across pages and spreads in a floating panel before connecting the text flow.
- Filter by layer, pages, physical document positions and X/Y coordinates; a 3 × 3 reference point defines the measured position.
- Sort by rows or columns and choose the horizontal and vertical reading directions.
- Append frames from the layout; move, remove or select multiple list entries together.
- Keep existing text chains or rebuild their complete order; overset text is reported.
- Links the reviewed sequence without inserting extra paragraph breaks. The text reflows afterwards.
How to use it
- Run Textrahmen verknüpfen.jsx. Choose the layer, page range and reading direction; optionally set X/Y coordinates and the reference point.
- Choose Load / sort frames. Inspect and adjust the list.
- Choose Link and check the resulting flow and overset text.
Installation
In InDesign, open Window → Utilities → Scripts. Right-click User → Reveal in Finder / Explorer. Copy the JSX file into that folder, then double-click it in the Scripts panel. Adobe InDesign is required and is not included. The interface follows the InDesign application language: German for German InDesign, English otherwise.
Before you start
Text reflows after linking. Separate stories are joined without adding paragraph breaks. Anchored text frames and text on paths are excluded. Locked or hidden objects are not automatically unlocked. Rebuilding requires every frame of the affected chains.
Please try it on a copy of your document first. These captures show InDesign 2026 on macOS; other versions and Windows have not been verified for this shop release.
