- Two attempts per client address within a rolling 24 hours by default; failed CAPTCHA and validation attempts also count.
- Explicit trusted-proxy configuration and optional IPv6 /64 grouping.
- HTTP 429 with Retry-After; native Joomla settings and editable messages.
- Eight languages with nine locales; Joomla Language Overrides and English fallback.
Requirements and limits
Joomla 6.2+ within 6.x, PHP 8.3+, MySQL/MariaDB driver. Tested on Joomla 6.2.0, PHP 8.3.14 and MySQL 8. Joomla core contact forms only; CAPTCHA remains necessary. Shared connections share the quota. Distributed attacks and third-party forms are outside the scope.
Installation and updates
Install the ZIP using Joomla, configure and enable System - DLS Contact Guard. Enter the download key under System → Update Sites. Documentation: /extensions/dls-contact-guard/documentation.html
